Primary Purpose Assists with developing/modifying data information and presentation solutions within Parkland Health in order to provide Parkland with the appropriate data and knowledge to optimize effective evidence-based decision making. Coordinates Data Solutions, while gaining the knowledge and skills to perform many of the typical tasks associated with data request fulfillment, documentation records keeping. Able to complete tasks in a self-directed manner without extensive oversight. Looks for challenges, constantly works towards improving their skill levels, and takes ownership for work assigned to them.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Technology, Public Health or Healthcare Administration required.
  • Must have a strong desire to work in Healthcare Information Technology.
  • Two (2) years of experience as an analyst working as a team member in a project environment applying Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with an integrated Electronic Medical Record (EMR) application, within a healthcare organization.
  • Familiarity with Office products or project tracking software.
  • Experience demonstrating systems analysis, IT, or programming skills are a plus.
  • Effective communication is a must.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills, and problem solving with regard to design and development of technical applications.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft tools such as Visio, Word, Excel, Power Point, Project.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • PMP or Project Management certificate a plus.
  • Epic application and/or Cogito proficiency or certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, assists with the formulation and definition of system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify simple information systems.
  • Assists with the preparation of detailed specifications from which programs will be written.
  • Assists with designing, coding, testing, debugging of documents and maintains programs.
  • Prepares test conditions and conducts program testing to validate that the system works per specifications.
  • Carries out maintenance tasks on assigned programs/systems with assistance from senior personnel when necessary.
  • Assists with the response to customer concerns and requests, with the assistance of senior personnel when necessary.
  • Documents each step of system maintenance to ensure adequate communication within the team and customers.
  • Actively provides prompt responses to customer problems and inquiries. Makes the customer’s experience the first priority in all operations.
  • Collaborates with business partners and cross functional teams to learn business processes and capture requirements relative to proposed solutions.
  • Resolves incidents and requests independently within SLA timelines. Take ownership and resolve complicated/code intensive incidents and requests.
  • Uses diplomacy to handle conflict with peers, without allowing personal feelings to influence or impact the outcome negatively.
  • Follows all department procedures (Weekly Status Reports, Customer Delivery, Customer Communications, Request Creation, etc.)
  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to team leader, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  • Assists with the maintenance of appropriate program and system documentation in accordance with department standards.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of Information Technology (IT) by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and meeting with other IT professionals.
