About The Position

The Bi-Lingual Chinese Air Manager will lead the air freight department, ensuring efficient and compliant operations for air shipments. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing a team, and coordinating with external stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining accurate records and timely transportation of goods.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in freight forwarding or air freight management.
  • Strong knowledge of air freight operations, including shipment scheduling, customs formalities, and transportation logistics.
  • Familiarity with TSA/CBP/IAC regulations.
  • DG (Dangerous Goods) certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Cargowise is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual in Chinese and English is required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the air department, ensuring that all air shipments are handled efficiently from origin to delivery.
  • Delegate tasks and assignments to team members to cover other team members when needed.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
  • Communicate and work closely with forwarders, customs brokers, and customers to gather necessary information for customs and ensure smooth customs clearance.
  • Work with transport companies to ensure accurate and timely delivery of customer shipments, meeting all customer requirements.
  • Book and schedule air shipments, ensuring accurate work orders and shipment instructions are processed.
  • Arrange transportation of shipments and work directly with trucking companies and shipping lines to schedule and manage export shipments.
  • Provide excellent customer service through phone, email, and online systems, addressing client inquiries and ensuring all customer needs are met.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customers to update them on shipment status and resolve any issues or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Review and audit bills and invoices from manufacturers, truckers, and shipping lines for accuracy, ensuring all costs are in line with company standards.
  • Maintain and cost files, ensuring accuracy in billing and profitability of the air freight department.
  • Ensure team compliance with invoicing procedures and timely billing to customers.
  • Monitor and track shipment arrivals to ensure that all goods are delivered on time and within specifications.
  • Arrange customs clearances and work with relevant authorities to ensure compliance with regulations and timely clearance of shipments.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all air freight activities, ensuring that files are up-to-date and accessible.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to team members on a regular basis, helping the team improve their performance and customer service skills.
  • Assist in the creation and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve operational efficiency within the air freight department.
