About The Position

The BI Developer is responsible for leading and supporting reporting projects. This includes but is not limited to building high impact business intelligence dashboards and reports, processing multiple complex datasets, and completing strategic analytics projects. The BI Developer will be responsible for building relationships with clinical and business leaders across the organization, helping to complete team and individual reporting projects. Strong communication skills will also be required to optimize communication across stakeholders, including ensuring all projects are delivered in a clear and impactful manner. The BI Developer will need to be a team player, but also a self-starter who can work independently, show curiosity, and demonstrate initiative to own complex projects.

Requirements

  • Ability to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical specifications, and validate outputs with stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams such as Finance, Operations, Clinical, and Billing.
  • Ability to simplify complex data concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, fact/dimension tables.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency (CTEs, window functions, performance tuning).
  • Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
  • Familiarity with stored procedures, ETL frameworks, and query optimization.
  • Proficiency with business intelligence tools including Tableau, Power BI or related tools
  • Accuracy and attention to detail including reconciliation and validation, ability to prioritize and multitask while meeting deadlines
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in analytics, statistics, mathematics, engineering or a related field.
  • Work Experience: 1-3years of previous experience in business analytics required.
  • Demonstrated experience with data reporting, querying, and manipulation of large data sets.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous health care related analytics experience preferred.
  • Experience building dashboards and data processing with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or a similar tool.
  • Experience with data coding languages such as Python, R, SQL, or related tools.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to consistently meet expectations with minimal supervision while working in-person.
  • Develop reporting, analysis, and support for presentations, dashboards, and projects delivered in a timely manner, following internal reporting standards.
  • Execute high-quality analysis, including trending, anomaly detection, and root cause analysis.
  • Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports.
  • Collects, cleans, and prepares data from internal and external sources for use in building reports and analyses.
  • Creates, maintains and trouble shoots data queries, dashboards and reports.
  • Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting area of responsibility. Remains current on law/regulation changes, recognizes implications to the organization and recommends/implements courses of action to ensure compliance. Assumes accountability for enhancing own knowledge in new developments affecting the financial affairs of the organization through professional organizations, journals, workshops, in-services, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and corporate/physician financial information.
  • Promotes a positive, professional image of The Iowa Clinic Management Company and The Iowa Clinic both internally and externally.
  • Participates in management, departmental and interdepartmental meetings as assigned.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
