About The Position

The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking a qualified BH/DS Clinician I – Sr. Employment Specialist to assist adults with intellectual, developmental and behavioral health disabilities in achieving competitive, integrated employment. The selected candidate will conduct comprehensive assessments of the client’s employment interests, strengths and needs for support and support clients with finding employment, and by providing individualized support, training, and guidance. This role involves preparing job seekers for employment, developing relationships with employers, and offering ongoing support to ensure job retention. Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor individual service plans (ISPs) for each client, aligning with their needs and abilities. Complete all required documentation to show progress or regression towards the client’s plan goals within the quality and deadlines outlined in regulation and policy.
  • Complete all required billing processes to ensure the program accurately and ethically bills for services provided.
  • Conduct thorough Situational Assessments with the clients, to determine their employment interests, strengths and needs for support in employment settings.
  • Maintain the health, safety, and well-being of all program clients based on each client’s ISP.
  • Develop competitive jobs relevant to the client’s strengths and interests. Provide one-on-one, systematic training and support to clients to help them obtain, maintain, and excel in their jobs. Serve as liaison between the clients and their employer’s supervisory staff.
  • Advocate for fair application of the client’s employer’s policies, procedures, and job site opportunities. Coordinate services with employers and the support team to include family, residential, and other professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of case files, including assessments, progress notes, and incident reports, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Uphold all confidentiality, Human Rights, and Home and Community-Based Service (HCBS) rights at all times. Ensure all client’s rights are intact and consistently enforced.
  • Manage behavioral and crises utilizing Therapeutic Options Techniques.
  • Complete and secure information and documents for client charts to meet quality standards for corporate compliance, reimbursement, and CARF accreditation.
