About The Position

The Department of Building & General Services (BGS) Office of Safety & Security is seeking for a Security Officer to support our mission to keep to state employees and facilities safe and secure.   Security duties vary greatly from day to day but can include managing visitors at security kiosks, conducting building patrols, enforcing parking policies, responding to alarms, emergencies, and concerning events, monitoring security cameras, and documenting the circumstances of safety and security events. Incumbents must be able to communicate effectively verbally as well as be able to write comprehensive incident reports. Incumbents may be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time, sometimes in adverse weather conditions. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be available to work at night, weekends, and possibly on holidays. This position will work 4 ten-hour days per week.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) or more years of experience in customer service AND one (1) or more year of experience in security or emergency services.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Must pass a fingerprint supported security clearance prior to starting position.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification and all other BGS approved required training must be completed within the first nine months of employment.
