About The Position

Bulfinch Temporary Services is seeking a part-time Phlebotomist to assist with research studies at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). This temporary position is expected to start in January and continue through August 2025. The role involves providing phlebotomy, processing, and medical assistant services, as well as performing administrative tasks to support the operations of the Center for Clinical Investigations (CCI).

Requirements

• Phlebotomy experience with demonstrated proficiency in the field.
• 2+ years of phlebotomy experience preferred; 6 months of specimen processing experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certificate of completion in Phlebotomy or Medical Assisting, or completion of a phlebotomy course as part of a degree program.

Nice To Haves

• Clerical experience including medical terminology, preferably in a laboratory setting.
• Ability to problem solve and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Experience in a high-volume patient environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide phlebotomy services for research patients at CCI and off-unit.
• Process and ship specimen samples for research studies.
• Maintain freezer storage for research samples.
• Perform receptionist and clerical functions to support clinic operations.
• Prepare patients for their visits and obtain vital signs as necessary.
• Document patient information using recognized medical terminology.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
• Interpret orders and perform routine specimen analysis.
• Label and log samples accurately for storage and distribution.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory of supplies.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in the laboratory.
• Participate in training and orientation of new staff.
