About The Position

The Massachusetts General Hospital Division of Palliative Care & Geriatric Medicine is seeking a Full-Time Nurse Practitioner to join the Geriatric Medicine Service. This temporary position focuses on providing high-quality, comprehensive care to patients aged 65 and older, both in outpatient and inpatient settings. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to manage complex medical needs, optimize pre-operative conditions, and reduce postoperative complications. The Nurse Practitioner will engage in direct patient care, education, and clinical program development, with a commitment to compassionate and innovative care delivery.

Requirements

• Current Massachusetts licensure as Advanced Practice Nurse (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
• National certification as Advanced Practice Nurse (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
• Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and DEA Controlled Substances Registration.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Master's degree in nursing or related field preferred.
• A minimum of two years of inpatient experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of geriatric syndromes and the 5M's Geriatric Care Model.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Collaborate with attending physicians and interprofessional team members to manage patient care.
• Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and develop appropriate plans of care.
• Assist with pre-operative optimization and reduce postoperative complications.
• Manage a panel of patients, including ortho-trauma and general geriatric consultative patients.
• Educate patients, families, and staff on geriatric care and health management.
• Coordinate admissions and discharges, and participate in clinical research and program development.
