The position involves assisting in the maintenance, enhancement, and evaluation of the Louisiana Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (LA EHDI) Information System (IS) program for the Office of Public Health's Bureau of Family Health. The role includes collaboration with the Epidemiologist to conduct quality assessments and utilize evaluation results to strengthen the IS. Responsibilities also include verifying newborn hearing screening data, monitoring data entries from LA birth hospitals, providing training to various stakeholders, compiling and assessing hospital screening data, and conducting remediation activities based on assessments. The position requires maintaining communication with hospital staff, participating in professional development activities, and assisting in data management and reporting for the LA EHDI project.

  • Assists in maintenance, enhancement, and evaluation of LA EHDI IS program.
  • Collaborates with the Epidemiologist in conducting quality assessments.
  • Assists with enhancements/transitions in LA EHDI-IS.
  • Verifies newborn hearing screening data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Monitors LA birth hospitals' data entries monthly.
  • Provides LAEHDI-IS training to various stakeholders.
  • Compiles, reviews, and assesses hospital screening data.
  • Collaborates to generate and distribute hearing screening program scorecards.
  • Conducts remediation activities with hospitals based on scorecard assessments.
  • Provides annual presentation of hospital scorecard review to advisory council.
  • Reviews newborn hearing screening program policies for adherence to recommendations.
  • Conducts hospital visits, on-site trainings, and virtual meetings.
  • Maintains communication with hospital staff regarding protocol adherence.
  • Participates in collaborative efforts to improve LA EHDI program quality.
  • Assists in collection, management, and reporting of LA EHDI project data.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development activities.
  • Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in data systems management and data monitoring.
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience with newborn screening, EHDI programs, or maternal and child health systems.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Great attention to detail and follow up.
  • Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities.
  • Proficient in the use of Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health education, information systems, or relevant field.
  • Minimum 4 years professional experience in data systems management and data monitoring.
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience with newborn screening, EHDI programs, or maternal and child health systems.
  • Relevant industry certifications.
