About The Position

Occasions Caterers is seeking a Beverage Manager to oversee the beverage department operations, including purchasing, storage, menu selection, and specialty event operations. This role requires extensive knowledge in Mixology, Wine Pairing, and Menu Selection, as well as previous experience in high-volume, high-profile event operations. The Beverage Manager will be part of the R&D team, ensuring that Occasions remains at the forefront of new technology and trends in the industry. Knowledge of Washington DC, Virginia, and Maryland laws regarding the purchase, transportation, and service of alcoholic beverages is essential.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge in Mixology, Wine Pairing, and Menu Selection.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee beverage department operations including purchasing, storage, and menu selection.
  • Work with Account Executives and Event Managers on special order beer, wine, and spirits.
  • Lead the team to create seasonal cocktails for catering seasons, including costing.
  • Maintain existing wine list for inventory accuracy and opportunities.
  • Comply with laws pertaining to the purchase and transportation of alcoholic beverages.
  • Ensure availability of all alcoholic beverages and mixers with existing vendors.
  • Oversee and schedule Beverage Warehouse Department staff for timely availability of beverage carts.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all alcoholic beverages and mixers monthly.
  • Hire and train a team of advanced bartenders for the Mixology program.
