About The Position

The Beverage Manager is responsible for the general oversight and leadership of Snack Bar, Beverage Cart, Grille Room F&B operations, and Bar operations. They are the backbone of communication, support, and resource allocation, optimizing profitability and meeting the day-to-day operating budget. In this position, the Beverage Manager will provide hands-on leadership to facilitate Member & Guest experiences that exceed expectations while maximizing revenue. They will ensure that standards for quality, service, timeliness, safety, security, sanitation and regulatory compliance are adhered to. The Beverage Manager will plan and prepare for events, meet the highest level of expectations through hands-on management and oversight, and direct and support post-event activities, reconciliation, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or appropriate combination of education and experience to support the job effectiveness.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ management experience in the Food & Beverage service industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and general workplace safety standards, with general knowledge of Health Department requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-starter who can work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office programs
  • Friendly and welcoming customer service
  • Flexibility, ability to work extended or irregular hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperature extremes and conditions of excessive noise. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. in weight.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains “on the floor” presence for all meal services and special events to directly and actively oversee staff and engage with the membership to achieve a “high-touch” service-oriented environment.
  • Promptly and graciously greets members and guests.
  • Recruits, trains, counsels, and supervises the food and beverage staff, including seasonal support.
  • Primarily manages and supervises staff to ensure proper service.
  • Performs server and bartender duties when necessary.
  • Schedules staff at the Snack Bar, Beverage Cart, and Grille Room, according to anticipated needs and within the parameters of the annual operating budget. Assist with the banquet bar or Monty’s bar schedule when needed.
  • Executes the Club’s established food and beverage training program and ensures that staff training is ongoing and comprehensive.
  • Manages the ordering of all alcoholic beverages, maintains liquor pour costs, implements recipes, and retail pricing of products. Completes scheduled end-of-month inventories and ensures that proper administrative processes are followed.
  • Ensures payroll procedures of Snack Bar, Beverage Cart, and Grille Room staff are met to ensure that established labor expense administration and allocations are consistently followed.
  • Ensures all side-work and opening and closing procedures are accomplished and that the cleaning of equipment and storage areas is completed according to schedule.
  • Serves as liaison between service staff and kitchen staff.
  • Strengthen business relationships with vendors to promote new products, draft beer rotations, monthly specials, or signature drinks, wine tastings, etc.
  • Ensures all customer billing is correct and assists with member function billing as needed.
  • Conducts pre-shift meetings with staff, including menu and service standards training, membership changes or additions, and Club-related policies and procedures.
  • Receives and resolves complaints concerning food, beverage, and service, and reports such complaints according to Club procedures.
  • Assists with the setup and execution of private parties and Club events.
  • Ensures all appropriate areas and other Club areas are secure and locked at the end of the business day.
  • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings.
  • Ensures that all food and beverage staff are presentable, well-groomed, and in established uniforms at all times.
  • Attends approved seminars, workshops and meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments in the field to enhance his or her value and quality of services to the Club.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
