About the position

The Beverage Director at The Hills Country Club is responsible for beverage control, ensuring accurate pours of product, maintaining general cleanliness of the bar, and locking and securing the bar and clubhouse when scheduled. The role involves providing quality service that meets Members' expectations and managing the inventory of all wine, beer, liquor, and non-alcoholic beverages. The Beverage Director will supervise the work of employees in the dining rooms and bars, perform scheduling, and partake in employee performance reviews. Additionally, the position requires training service personnel in beverage service standards and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the inventory of all wine, beer, liquor, and non-alcoholic beverages, focusing on seasonality and Member interest.
  • Supervise the work of employees in the dining rooms and bars, including scheduling and conducting service meetings.
  • Train service personnel in beverage service standards and ensure completion of Alcohol Safety Training.
  • Monitor safety and sanitation practices of beverage storage and service.
  • Oversee beverage for all private events, collaborating with the Private Event team on product needs and upselling opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Chef and FB Director on menu development related to beverage pairings.
  • Oversee all Club Beverage programs, including wine lists and drink offerings.
  • Create imaginative cocktail, beer, and wine menus with a focus on seasonal ingredients.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional experience as a Beverage Manager, Maître d, or in another hospitality role.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience developing and executing a successful wine and cocktail program.
  • Specialized training in the Wine and/or Beverage Industry is preferred.
  • College degree or 3 years in the wine industry is required.
  • Achieved minimum of (Level 1) Sommelier Certificate (CMS1) and maintain certification through continued education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Culinary and/or hospitality management emphasis is preferred.
