About The Position

IFF is seeking a Beverage Designer II to join their creative, customer-focused, and solution-oriented team in South Brunswick, NJ. This onsite anchor position involves translating creativity and science into food experiences that delight consumers and customers. The role focuses on crafting unique, technology-enabled flavor designs that define brand identity, shape flavor trends, and contribute to market success. The Beverage Designer II will be responsible for designing finished product formulations using IFF technologies, ensuring they meet customer, legal, cost, stability, and industrial requirements. The position requires independent project management, collaboration with production and quality teams for scale-up and troubleshooting, and providing technical guidance on complex formulation challenges. The role supports key local, strategic, and regional customer projects with a focus on commercial success, refines taste and texture attributes using clear and consistent sensory language, and continuously expands knowledge of ingredients and flavor interactions. The designer will also contribute to new concept generation and creative initiatives within a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients, health & biosciences, committed to sustainable innovations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the industrial food, ingredient, or flavor industry, including 2 years in a relevant specialization
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related scientific discipline
  • Proven product design, formulation, and project planning skills
  • Strong understanding of ingredient functionality and flavor performance in finished products
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within cross-functional teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Food Science or a related field
  • Experience supporting regional or global customers across multiple categories
  • Experience contributing to technical documentation or application literature

Responsibilities

  • Design finished product formulations incorporating IFF technologies while meeting customer, legal, cost, stability, and industrial requirements
  • Independently manage time and multiple projects, including developing detailed work plans
  • Partner with Production and Quality teams to support scale-up trials and provide QA/QC troubleshooting
  • Provide technical guidance on unusual or complex formulation challenges
  • Support key local, strategic, and regional customer projects with a focus on commercial success
  • Refine and articulate taste and texture attributes using clear and consistent sensory language
  • Continuously expand knowledge of ingredients, materials, and flavor interactions
  • Contribute to new concept generation and creative initiatives
