About The Position

The Beverage Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Beverage Manager in all aspects of leading and directing the beverage operations to deliver AAA Four Diamond level service. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of beer, wine, and spirits while showcasing a thorough understanding of current trends in alcoholic beverages. Responsibilities include assisting in overseeing the performance and coordination of all work performed by the beverage team. This role requires effective leadership skills, creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering an exceptional experience. Requirements

  • Must be 21+ years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least two (2) years as a supervisor having P&L familiarity required.
  • At least three (3) years of food and beverage service experience in a fast-paced, casino environment preferred. Three (3) years of experience as a bar manager in a high-volume environment in lieu of casino experience will be considered.
  • Obtain certification in T.I.P.S. training or other similar alcohol service safety certification as required by GLC.
  • Ability to speak, write, and communicate in English required.
  • Good understanding of beer, wine, spirits, and beverage knowledge with some restaurant leadership experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive administrative knowledge, which includes profit and loss statements, cost control, recipe creation and costing, budgeting, training, inventory control, and sanitation required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and Management in both written and verbal form.
  • Ability to control operational costs and improve financial results.
  • Demonstrates a high proficiency in written business communications to effectively present data and analyses for operational improvements.
  • Must demonstrate sound judgment and maturity in decision-making ability, even when dealing with difficult situations.
  • Must possess and demonstrate strong leadership skills and ability that will enhance and exemplify Gun Lake Casino Resort’s “Unsurpassed” Service Standards.
  • Must hold/maintain certification with handling (ServSafe) and Alcohol Awareness (TIPS) and the ability to gain/maintain training requirements from both programs.
  • Availability and willingness to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as business requires.
  • Must be able to obtain a gaming license through the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Commission.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Conduct group and individual training regarding policies and procedures on an ongoing basis. Set daily, weekly, and monthly goals and opportunities and lead the unit to achieve the desired result.
  • Communicate consistently with all managers, keeping them abreast of all department activities.
  • Ensure that all Team Members adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the department.
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with department policies and the Department of Health.
  • Ensure that the restaurant and equipment are in good working order to ensure a clean and hazard-free work area that complies with the Department of Health, OSHA, and Gun Lake Casino Resort’s guidelines. Monitor, work with facilities, and document if any area is below standards or not functioning properly.
  • Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color, and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Ability to read, write, and input data into the computer.
  • Ability to climb, bend, reach, walk, and stand for the duration of the shift.
  • Manual dexterity to operate job-related equipment.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50lbs with or without assistance.
  • Requires normal sense of smell, taste, touch, and hearing.
  • Ability to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Beverage Manager in setting clear expectations and provide ongoing training to ensure Team Members deliver exceptional experiences.
  • Teach and train the proper steps of service ensuring consistency in delivery.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth.
  • Responsible for handling any Team Member or Guest opportunities.
  • Evaluate, oversee, and provide coaching opportunities regarding job performance of Team Members.
  • Ensure that all Team Members are knowledgeable of and adhere to all Gun Lake Casino Resort’s Standards, policies, and procedures for the department.
  • Assist the Beverage Manager in overseeing all aspects of daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, staff scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Assist in implementing and enforcing health and safety standards to maintain a clean and safe environment for guests and staff.
  • Monitor drink quality, presentation, and portion control to ensure consistency and guest satisfaction.
  • Responsible for practicing, supporting, and always promoting Gun Lake Casino Resort’s “Unsurpassed Service” and AAA Four Diamond service standards.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of the menu offerings, including ingredients and preparation methods, to assist guests with menu selections and accommodate special requests.
  • Interact with guests to ensure an outstanding beverage experience and promptly address any concerns or feedback.
  • Collaborate with the beverage team to understand guest preferences, receive feedback, and adjust to enhance the overall guest experience.
  • Assist the Beverage Manager with the marketing team to develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new guests and retain existing ones.
  • Assist the Beverage Manager in monitoring and managing expenses, including food, beverage, supplies, and labor costs, to maximize profitability while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Help analyze sales reports and P&Ls to identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost-savings initiatives.
  • Implement pricing strategies and promotions to drive sales and increase customer loyalty.
  • Work closely with the beverage manager in the creation of annual budgets and managing and leading the unit in all forecasting and cost controls to meet or exceed unit operating financial potentials and goals.
  • Ensure compliance with Serve-Safe food safety and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Ensure the service team serves alcohol responsibly in accordance with TIPs training guidelines.
  • All other duties as assigned.
