Job Summary: The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting, testing, and verifying that manufactured products meet established quality standards and specifications. Working on the production floor and in quality control areas, the Quality Inspector performs visual and mechanical inspections, uses measurement tools and equipment, and documents inspection results. This role plays a key part in ensuring product consistency, identifying defects, and supporting continuous improvement efforts across the manufacturing process.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of DC electrical systems & AC electrical systems and battery wiring fundamentals.
  • Proficient in wire crimping, termination, and harness assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and BOMs.
  • Experience with hand tools, torque tools, multimeters, and insulation testers.
  • Familiarity with battery systems, BMS wiring, and power electronics preferred.
  • Basic understanding of UL, NEC, and NFPA safety standards related to battery systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and consistency in workmanship.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and committed to maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving product designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Dexterity to handle small components and wiring tools.
  • Comfortable working around high-voltage and high-current components under controlled, supervised conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree, equivalent work experience or technical diploma in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical assembly, battery systems, or manufacturing.
  • OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification preferred.
  • Prior experience working with lithium-ion battery modules or energy storage products is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install battery interconnects, busbars, and grounding systems within BESS enclosures and racks.
  • Route, cut, strip, crimp, and terminate high-voltage DC power cables and low-voltage signal harnesses according to wiring diagrams.
  • Wire and mount contactors, relays, fuses, disconnects, and sensors inside cabinets and racks.
  • Connect and secure Battery Management System (BMS) signal wiring, communication lines (CAN, Modbus), and temperature sensors.
  • Apply torque and strain relief per specification to ensure safe and reliable electrical connections.
  • Label and tag all conductors, terminals, and connectors per company and industry standards.
  • Perform continuity, polarity, and insulation resistance tests on completed assemblies using appropriate test equipment.
  • Verify correct wiring per drawings and report any nonconformances.
  • Assist with in-process and final quality inspections, ensuring compliance with UL 9540, UL 1973, and company safety standards.
  • Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and maintain detailed test documentation.
  • Follow all NFPA 70E, OSHA, and company-specific high-voltage safety procedures.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for high-voltage DC assembly or AC assembly testing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-safe workspace compliant with 5S principles.
  • Observe all procedures for safe battery handling, wiring, and system assembly, including awareness of thermal and chemical hazards.
  • Work closely with engineers, production leads, and quality teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Provide feedback on wiring layouts, build efficiency, and potential design improvements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean manufacturing) to enhance quality, safety, and throughput.
  • Update as-built documentation and maintain accurate production records.
