About The Position

The Benefits Analyst is a crucial role within the organization, responsible for the administration of various health and welfare plans. This includes managing both self-insured and fully-insured health plans, as well as dental, vision, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, COBRA, and commuter benefits. The position reports directly to the Senior Director of Benefits and is accountable for ensuring that all health and welfare plans are administered effectively and in compliance with relevant regulations. The Benefits Analyst will play a key role in vendor management, employee communication, and issue resolution, ensuring that all plans and programs are managed according to their provisions. In addition to the core responsibilities, the Benefits Analyst will be expected to assist with special projects as needed, providing analytical support and insights. This role requires a solid understanding of benefits administration and the ability to handle moderately complex issues and problems. The analyst must maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding employee information and possess strong organizational and communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills is essential. Experience in a union environment is considered a plus, as it may enhance the analyst's ability to navigate specific challenges related to benefits administration. The Benefits Analyst will also be involved in the annual benefits open enrollment process, which includes setting up the enrollment system, conducting audits, and facilitating communication with employees. Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements is paramount, and the analyst must stay informed about ERISA, IRS regulations, ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA. The role involves addressing benefits-related inquiries from employees and managers, researching trends in employee benefits, and collaborating with third-party vendors to ensure accurate administration of benefit programs. Furthermore, the analyst will assist in the design and implementation of new benefits programs and policies, prepare reports related to benefit programs, and provide guidance to management on benefits-related issues.
