About The Position

The Benefits and Wellness Specialist is responsible for managing and administering health insurance, retirement plans, leave of absence, and wellness programs for team members. This role involves providing support to team members, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and improving existing benefits offerings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) or equivalent from a four-year college in business or HR or related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration, leave management, and wellness programs.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws related to benefits, leave, and wellness.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office programs including Word & Excel, with intermediate Excel experience a must.
  • Experience in an HRIS system (Workday experience is a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Research benefits options such as various insurance, retirement, and wellness options.
  • Manage and respond to inquiries related to benefits, leaves of absences, wellness programs, and other general inquiries.
  • Perform quality checks in HR system of benefits-related data.
  • Provide necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Benefits and Wellness to evaluate and improve existing benefits offerings.
  • Assist team members regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Enroll team members with carriers and process life status changes through the HR system.
  • Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and state disability paperwork.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to team members, executives, and HR business partners.
  • Evaluate and approve/deny leave cases based on relevant medical information.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines.
  • Complete and process benefit withholding orders in a timely manner.
  • Respond to 401(k) inquiries from managers and team members.
  • Support with the open enrollment process.
  • Assist with the company's wellness initiatives.
