About The Position

The Benefits Manager will collaborate with Payroll and HRIS managers and brokers to develop, implement, administer, and maintain benefit programs, ensuring they are equitable, meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements, and are cost-effective. This role involves developing benefit communication and counseling employees on benefits-related issues.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with UltiPro (UKG) is a must.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, PPACA, ERISA, HIPAA).
  • Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS platform.
  • Working knowledge of SaaS applications, databases, reporting tools, and IT infrastructure.
  • Ability to investigate and learn new technologies.
  • Team-focused with a customer service orientation, but also able to work independently as needed.
  • Occasional work outside of regular hours to meet deadlines.
  • Impeccable integrity in confidential matters.
  • Experience with Cognos BI preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP.

Nice To Haves

  • CEBS certification is a plus but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain state-specific compliance requirements, including filings and new state laws affecting benefits packages.
  • Ensure benefits administration aligns with plan documents, policies, and legal regulations.
  • Coordinate with third-party administrators on insurance issues.
  • Manage all benefits compliance filings for the year, including Non-Discrimination Testing and 5500's.
  • Work with brokers to maintain compliance with state-specific requirements.
  • Develop and maintain an annual compliance calendar.
  • Manage all leave programs, including FMLA, Disability, and Workers' Compensation claims.
  • Review plan documents annually for accuracy.
  • Assist with compiling annual Workers' Comp audit and renewal.
  • Manage annual open enrollment and ACA process.
  • Assist in annual 401k and Health and Welfare plan audits, including preparation of draft 5500s and financial statements.
  • Process monthly vendor reconciliation and billing.
  • Manage all benefit vendors and work directly with representatives on coverage issues and contract renewals.
  • Responsible for enrollment and ongoing management of benefits.
  • Partner with Benefits broker to develop, manage, and administer the company Wellness program.
  • Provide guidance and respond to HR and benefits questions/requests from HR Director, managers, and employees.
  • Maintain benefit files, employee files, and HR database; provide reporting from HR systems.
