The Benefits Director oversees the daily operations and administration of Bancroft's employee benefit programs.. This role ensures benefits offerings are competitive, cost-effective, and compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. The Benefits Manager collaborates with leadership, vendors, and HR teams to enhance employee engagement, streamline benefits processes, and support the overall business strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in benefits administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits laws and regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and FMLA.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize comprehensive benefits programs including health, retirement, wellness, leave, and voluntary plans.
  • Analyze industry trends to ensure competitive offerings and alignment with business goals.
  • Support long-term benefits strategy development to meet evolving workforce needs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA).
  • Oversee regulatory reporting (5500 filings, nondiscrimination testing) and partner with Legal, Finance, and HR to manage risk.
  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party administrators to optimize cost and service quality.
  • Negotiate contracts and oversee the benefits budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and accurate forecasting.
  • Lead communication strategies to educate employees on benefits, enrollment, and policy updates.
  • Manage annual open enrollment and life event changes; resolve employee inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Administer leave programs (FMLA, STD, LTD, PTO) with a focus on compliance and employee support.
  • Leverage HRIS and benefits platforms to analyze utilization, cost trends, and employee feedback.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Lead and develop the benefits team to deliver exceptional service and operational efficiency.
  • Partner across HR, Finance, and leadership teams to integrate benefits into broader people strategies.
  • Foster a culture of well-being, engagement, and continuous improvement.
