Brown & Brown is seeking a Benefits Consultant to join our growing team in Chicago, IL! The Senior Benefits Consultant will have the opportunity to lead Employee Benefits account management and provide strategic guidance to clients. This role includes day-to-day client interaction, oversight of service functions, and administration of marketing and renewal activities. The ideal candidate brings advanced expertise in compliance, financial analysis, and reporting, independently advising clients and preparing complex financial exhibits. Additional responsibilities include leading client meetings, developing customized reporting, and mentoring team members to ensure alignment with overall strategy and objectives.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4-year degree or equivalent work experience required.
• 5+ years employee benefits experience with a thorough understanding and knowledge of employee benefits.
• 1+ years financial experience.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite.
• Microsoft Excel – Strong to expert level skills.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking ability.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• This position may require routine or periodic travel which may require the team member to drive their own vehicle or a rental vehicle. If required, acceptable results of a Motor Vehicle Record report at the time of hire and periodically thereafter, and maintenance of minimum acceptable insurance coverages are requirements of this position.
• Must obtain and maintain active Life/Accident and Health Insurance Agent License

Responsibilities

• All responsibilities within the Account Manager & Financial Analyst career tracks.
• Development and execution of client benefit strategy.
• Independently advises clients on all areas of compliance.
• Intermediate level of compliance, benchmarking, renewal & marketing, reporting & analytics, and able to perform these functions with little guidance.
• Provide client utilization and financial reporting to Team Lead and to clients.
• Partners with Team Lead to lead client meetings and presentations.
• Partners with Team Lead to onboard new clients.
• Strong knowledge of and relationships with vendors.
• Delegates tasks, training and onboarding to Specialists as appropriate.
• Participates in market meetings, seminars and training programs as directed.
• Monitor monthly financials for clients including entry of data into client exhibits.
• Prepare and send monthly financial reports to clients with analysis of activity and large claim detail.
• Prepare basic financial/underwriting exhibits as requested including but not limited to financial projections, large claim analysis, specific stop loss analysis, demographics analysis, IBNR, etc.
• Work with Team Lead to develop reporting requirements and any deviations or customizations in those reports.
• Assists Team Lead in preparing requests for proposals and renewals of benefits coverage.
