Reporting to the Deputy Director of Human Resources and Director of Benefits, the Benefits and Employee Well-Being Specialist assists in the administration of employee benefit and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, 403(b) and 457(b) retirement plans, and time off programs. The Specialist provides information, counseling, and assistance to employees regarding benefit programs. The role supports employees preparing to retire by answering questions, assisting with enrollments, and serving as a liaison to retirees so they can remain connected with the university through programming, continued support, and guidance. The position oversees the Retiree Health Plan and Health Reimbursement Arrangement programs and manages Live Well W&L, the university’s wellness program. In addition, the Specialist finds innovative ways to champion a culture that supports a healthy balance of work and life. The successful candidate will be highly organized and able to manage multiple competing priorities, shifting seamlessly between tasks and responding effectively to frequent interruptions. This role requires a strong communicator who can confidently present in group settings, engage thoughtfully in one-on-one conversations, and communicate clearly in writing. Communications responsibilities require both a customer service–focused skillset and the ability to develop, maintain, and share accurate benefits information and resources.
