About The Position

UF Health is seeking a Senior Benefits Analyst – Voluntary Benefits, Disability & Time Away to join their benefits team! This role serves as the system-wide subject matter expert and program owner for voluntary benefits, disability (STD/LTD), and leave/time away programs. This role operates within the Benefits Center of Excellence and is responsible for program design, governance, vendor strategy, compliance, and enterprise harmonization—not transactional administration. The senior analyst partners closely with HR Operations, Finance, vendors, consultants, and HR business partners to ensure programs are competitive, compliant, data-driven, and aligned with system strategy. This role does not perform transactional leave administration or case management. These activities are managed by HR Operations and third‑party administrators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive benefits experience focused on voluntary benefits, disability, or leave/time-away programs. Experience in a large, complex employer and multi-market harmonization preferred.
  • Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and state leave programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret program data, claims trends, and process metrics.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects.
  • Proficiency in BenAdmin software and HRIS systems.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).
  • Excellent communication and consulting skills leveraging data insights.
  • Self-starter who is adaptable in an evolving COE environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, evaluation, and ongoing evolution of voluntary benefits, disability plans, and time-away programs including absence management.
  • Analyze program utilization, cost drivers, and employee trends to develop data-backed recommendations.
  • Develop plan design proposals aligned with system goals, regulatory requirements, and market competitiveness.
  • Support annual renewals, financial modeling, and long-term planning.
  • Develop employee communications in partnership with HR Communications (leave education, vendor launches, awareness).
  • Support transition planning to move markets to standardized enterprise programs for time away (PTO), leave, disability, and voluntary benefits.
  • Partner with market HR & Employee Relations teams to assess readiness, timing, and policy impacts; align with enterprise timelines.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and change impacts; escalate critical items to Benefits leadership.
  • Support creation of implementation playbooks and change management materials.
  • Serve as a strategic point of contact for voluntary benefit carriers, disability vendors, third‑party leave administrators, and consultants.
  • Monitor vendor performance, service issues, SLAs, and outcomes; drive continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Support RFPs, renewals, implementations, and vendor transitions.
  • Partner with HR Operations to identify systemic issues and trends requiring COE intervention.
  • Apply system standards and benefits governance consistently across voluntary benefits, disability, and leave/time-away programs.
  • Review exception requests and prepare recommendations with supporting rationale.
  • Maintain plan standards, decision frameworks, and SOPs for leave/disability/voluntary benefits.
  • Provide guidance to HR Operations and HR Business Partners on policy interpretation and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, DOL, IRS, FMLA, ADA, and applicable state leave requirements.
