About The Position

In this Benefit Specialist role, you will support the day-to-day coordination and administration of employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and leave of absence benefits. This role serves as a primary point of contact for employee benefit and leave questions, ensuring accurate administration, timely processing, and clear communication throughout the employee life cycle. The Specialist partners closely with vendors and internal teams to support benefit enrollments, HRIS transactions, and employee leave requests while maintaining compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required; preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in benefits or leave administration, or a general HR role with exposure to benefits and leave coordination.
  • Experience working with HRIS systems (such as UKG)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain benefits information clearly to employees.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, short-term and long-term disability, USERRA, state leave programs, and related regulations a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily administration of health, welfare, retirement, and leave programs, including new hire enrollments, qualifying life event changes, and benefits terminations.
  • Serve as a primary contact for employee questions related to benefits and leave by managing HR inbox and calls; resolve issues directly when possible and escalate appropriately.
  • Act as a liaison between employees, benefit vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators to support issue resolution and consistent communication.
  • Review and audit vendor invoices for accuracy and coordinate reconciliation and payment processes with Finance.
  • Maintain and update employee benefit data within the HRIS system (UKG), including reviewing and approving life events, monitoring system workflows, and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Maintain benefits content on the intranet by drafting clear, consistent employee communications.
  • Coordinate benefit carrier file feeds from the HRIS system and ensure accurate deductions and reporting.
  • Respond to National Medical Support Notices
  • Assist with annual Open Enrollment activities, including system testing, reviewing premium calculations, updating vendor files, and preparing employee-facing materials.
  • Support 401(k) administration activities, including eligibility tracking and employee communications.
  • Assist with benefit metrics, reporting, and documentation as needed.
  • Support company wellbeing initiatives, including Drive Your Wellbeing programs focused on financial, emotional, and physical health.
  • Coordinate and administer employee leave of absence programs, including federal, state, and company-paid and unpaid leaves (FMLA, ADA, short-term and long-term disability, USERRA, and state leave programs).
  • Support required benefits-related employer reporting (e.g., ACA, EEO-1).
  • Administer employee anniversary and milestone recognition programs.
  • Provide general administrative support related to benefits policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
