About The Position

The City of Fredericksburg Department of Social Services (FDSS) is recruiting for a Benefit Programs Specialist , Senior who assists department staff by performing high level work in the administration of benefit programs. Summary of Duties: The Benefit Programs Specialist, Senior performs advanced technical, administrative, counseling and case management duties for an assigned caseload of clients served by the City Social Services Department. The Benefit Program Specialist Senior has advanced knowledge of all public assistance programs, managing the most complex caseloads, providing technical assistance and training to other benefit program specialists, and serving as back-up to the supervisor.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of experience working with the general public in a local DSS or other Human Services Field or equivalent education, and/or experience.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check to include a clean search of the Virginia Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry (no current findings or cases associated to you).
• A valid state driver’s license that meets the standards for the City of Fredericksburg.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience working for a Social Services department.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office software.
• Knowledge of DSS case management systems.
