About The Position

The Benefit & Leave Specialist at Goodwill Industries of Central Texas is responsible for administering all aspects of ADA accommodations, transitional duty programs, and leaves of absence. This role ensures compliance with various regulations, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), while providing guidance and support to employees throughout the leave process.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of FMLA regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail for accuracy in documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficient in using HRIS and other software applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for analyzing leave-related issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of other leave laws and regulations, such as ADA.
  • Strong customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for employees requesting FMLA leave, providing guidance and explaining the process.
  • Receive and review FMLA leave requests, ensuring complete and accurate documentation is provided.
  • Assess and determine eligibility for FMLA leave based on medical certifications and applicable laws.
  • Coordinate and communicate with employees, supervisors, and HR team members for timely processing of leave requests.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee files related to FMLA leave.
  • Monitor and track FMLA leave usage for compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with HR team members to develop and update FMLA policies and procedures.
  • Provide ongoing training and education to managers and employees on FMLA policies and compliance requirements.
  • Stay updated on changes in FMLA regulations and recommend necessary adjustments to policies.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to support the administration of FMLA leave.
  • Conduct job site analysis and determine accommodations for employees returning from leave.
