About The Position
The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a dedicated Benefit and Eligibility Worker (Human Service Specialist 3) to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining a work environment that respects and honors the lived experiences of our clients, colleagues, and the communities we serve. As a Benefit and Eligibility Worker, you will be responsible for determining initial eligibility for various assistance programs, including TANF, Domestic Violence services, SNAP, Medical, and Employment Related Day Care applicants. You will explain the programs, policies, and procedures to clients, ensuring they understand their options and the requirements for assistance. In this role, you will verify eligibility factors by pursuing necessary documents and statements from collateral sources. You will analyze all information obtained and apply relevant policies and guidelines to make informed decisions regarding eligibility. This includes completing all necessary documentation and accurately entering information into the State of Oregon computer system, which also involves providing a narration summary of interviews and citing collateral sources and reasons for case actions. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to equity and diversity, reflecting these values in both thought and action. You will work in a fast-paced office environment, often interacting with Oregonians experiencing emotional and financial stress.
