The Bench Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, testing, and maintaining electronic components and assemblies used in slot machines and gaming devices. This role ensures all hardware meets regulatory compliance, quality standards, and operational performance requirements prior to deployment in the field.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in electronics repair or bench technician role
  • Strong knowledge of: Electronic components and circuit theory
  • Strong knowledge of: Soldering and rework techniques (SMT and through-hole)
  • Experience using diagnostic and testing equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in gaming, casino, or regulated industries
  • Familiarity with slot machine hardware platforms and peripherals
  • Understanding of compliance standards (e.g., GLI, jurisdictional gaming requirements)
  • Basic knowledge of embedded systems or firmware troubleshooting

Responsibilities

  • Perform component-level troubleshooting and repair of slot machine hardware, including: Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), Power supplies, Displays (LCD/LED), Bill validators, printers, and peripheral devices
  • Conduct functional testing, burn-in testing, and validation of repaired and new units
  • Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Identify root causes of hardware failures and document findings
  • Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and inventory usage
  • Ensure all repairs meet internal QA standards and gaming regulatory requirements
  • Assist in prototype builds, engineering testing, and product development as needed
  • Collaborate with QA, Engineering, and Field Service teams to resolve recurring issues
  • Maintain ESD-safe work environment and follow all safety protocols
