Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond? We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in Bridgeport, WV as a Bench Repair Technician. In this role, you will use a variety of handheld and stationary tools and equipment to clean, debur, blend, and polish parts and components. You will also set up and operate drill presses or small lathes. To succeed in this role, you will be someone with a strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn across multiple areas of our shop floor. This position will work on our 2nd shift, which is Monday-Thursday from 3:30pm-1:30am. You will train on our 1st shift for up to 6 months before moving to the 2nd shift schedule. Pratt & Whitney in Bridgeport, WV is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in aftermarket aviation, machining, automotive or other trades role.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Trade school training
  • Prior experience in an OEM/Aftermarket aviation role
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Proficient using a variety of different hand tools

Responsibilities

  • Perform various repair and rework operations on a variety of gas turbine engine sub-assemblies and related detailed parts.
  • Work from drawings, manuals, specifications and specific detailed instructions.
  • Use a variety of fixed gauges to check fits, alignments, clearances, and other specified requirements.
  • Operate hand and automatic riveting machines.
  • Operate small lathe, drill press and Blanchard grinder.
  • Check fit and clearance, install bushings and sleeve bag (perform shrink fitting operations).
  • Visually check work.
  • Ensure that equipment and work area are cleaned and maintained.
  • Assist in the repair of equipment and tooling
  • Provide input for tool modifications and introduce improved processing techniques to increase departmental efficiencies.
  • Provide guidance/training and assist others to overcome difficulties.
  • Must be able to use decimals and fractions to work from drawings, specifications and manuals and take readings from a variety of measuring instruments
  • Routinely provide support in areas outside of Bench Repair such as, CMM, Vane Flow & Tweak, Grinding, A and B weld test and peening.
  • Weight removal on impeller for balancing.
  • Comply with all company work rules, follow safe work practices and procedures established to protect the environment, and report to supervisors all unsafe acts, hazardous conditions, and conditions which impact or have the potential to impact the environment.
  • Responsible for reading, understanding, and complying with RTX's Code of Ethics, including the obligation to report actual and suspected violations of the code.
  • Perform all other related duties as required or assigned.
