The Beltman must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed policies, procedures, and operator manuals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some technical, vocational or education preferred
  • Working knowledge of OSHA/DOT regulations
  • Prior experience required with similar or same equipment or machinery.
  • Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions and deal with simple probes from standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform basic computer functions.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including basic arithmetic functions and common units of measurement.
  • Ability to read English sufficiently to be able to read information contained in manuals, regulations, and reports, including Safety issues and related matters.
  • Basic English language skills for completion of various paperwork and communicate with others via a two-way radio.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operation of front-end loader to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage areas, to feed conveyors, hoppers and to load trucks or railcars
  • Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel to operate loader
  • Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front-end loader to force bucket into bulk materials
  • Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drives vehicle to work site, and moves levers to dump material
  • Verifies amount of aggregate in storage bins and fills hoppers to ensure adequate quantity and quality of raw materials is maintained
  • Performs routine maintenance on loaders, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning
  • Participates in making sure the quality and quantity of raw materials meets established standards
  • Ensures assigned established performance indicators are met
  • Works toward improvement of the assigned plant and surrounding area
  • Follows established procedures to ensure that the plant for which he/she is working is in compliance with state, federal, and local regulations and requirements
  • Participates in on-going minor maintenance and visual evaluations of plant and equipment
  • Confers with plant superintendent, batch person, and other personnel to resolve problems, provide immediate feedback, and may recommend solutions to improve performance
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
