About The Position

The Production Operator I is responsible for maintaining the flow rate of the products going down the packaging lines by using the appropriate controls. They are also responsible for checking the quality of the products going through the belt line. This includes visual inspection as the product rolls through, clearing the roller of any clogged products slowing the belt line down and clearing out any discharge product. Production Operator I check the belt lines every week for any possible defects in the machines themselves, as well as cleaning out a dumpster and washing off plastic curtains. They are responsible for keeping their areas picked up daily. On occasion, the Production Operator I will have to handle bags of cinnamon for a certain customer but a majority of the time there are set products the company uses and when they are switched, the Operator will change out filters for the tank motors to prevent cross-contamination.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be literate and able to perform simple math
  • Must speak and understand English
  • Must be able to recognize letters and numbers
  • Ability to understand scale measurement

Nice To Haves

  • 1 or more years in food manufacturing facility preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead the safety effort by personal example.
  • Support full plant wide compliance with safety rules to further our goal of 0 accidents and encouragement of reporting and correcting near misses.
  • Adhere to SOPs and other work procedures as required to assure product quality and consistency to our customers.
  • Maintain all process equipment in clean and sanitary condition. All components must be free of contamination and foreign materials.Work area must be kept clean and neat.
  • Ensure that all process equipment is operational and functioning properly when flaking and packaging oils. This includes making sure the equipment is operating within proper operating specifications. Includes but is not limited to the monitoring of size, thickness, color, and consistency of flake to meet specifications as well as rates per hour.
  • Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)
  • Record all pertinent processing data on applicable record forms and submit records to appropriate department managers
  • Responsible for knowing the content of all work instructions related to the Belt process.
  • Perform any and all tasks assigned to you by any member of the AAK management team.
  • Potentially asked to participate in Safety Committee
  • Continue improvement projects as directed by management
  • Reduce the amount of rework by participating in employee involvement, process improvement and adherence to process guidelines
  • Ensure work is completed to customers specifications
  • Contribute to the effort in controlling costs and minimizing waste in your daily work
