About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking individuals for a temporary position to represent the organization by ringing a bell at assigned kettle locations to raise funds for services provided to individuals and families. This role is crucial in supporting the mission of The Salvation Army, which is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The position is temporary, running from November 7th to December 24th, with a wage of $10.50 per hour. Applications are accepted in person at the specified location during designated hours.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Experience working with the public is desired.
• Must be clean, neat, and well-groomed.
• Dressed appropriately for the location and weather.
• A smiling, friendly, and cheerful attitude.
• Prompt and consistent in attendance.
• Responsible for items assigned (kettles, equipment, etc.) to your care.
• Flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.
• A willingness to promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

• Report to work promptly as scheduled.
• Work in all weather conditions (rain, sleet, snow, cold).
• Work a minimum of 4 hours, maximum of 8 hours per shift and maximum of 40 hours per week.
• Stay at assigned kettle, ringing the bell.
• Represent The Salvation Army and its programs.
• Be responsible for kettle, stand, and bell at assigned location.
• Call supervisor on duty if Bell Ringer needs to leave shift early.
• Remain at work site until relieved of duties by another Salvation Army staff member.
• Dress and behave appropriately as a representative of The Salvation Army.
• Greet the public as they pass the work site.
• Remain alert and aware of surroundings, never taking the kettle off the stand.
• Ensure all monetary donations are placed into the kettle by the donor themselves.
• Stand for long periods of time and/or entire shift.
• Follow Corps policies and procedures.
