The Christmas Bell Ringing Driver is responsible for driving bell ringers to their assigned posts and manning their own assigned kettle. This position will work closely with the Christmas Kettle Coordinator and Congregational Life Officer to ensure exceptional customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Receive daily bell ringer schedule from Kettle Coordinator or assistant.
  • Make sure to be briefed on any new procedure or problem before departing for route.
  • Keep Kettle Coordinator informed of any problem on route.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding any problems or disciplinary measures.
  • Turn in all receipts to coordinator or assistant.
  • Ensure no one smokes, eats or drinks in the vans.
  • Clean the van at the end of the shift and fill it with gas.
  • Check on bell ringers as often as possible.
  • Keep the buckets with money safe and secure at all times.
  • Drop returning bell ringers off at gym door only – no exceptions.
  • Maintain appropriate grooming and attire as per bell ringer handbook.
  • Man your own assigned kettle as a good example to other bell ringers.
  • Must be able to drive and manage a van.
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain confidentiality.
  • Good communication skills to inform the Kettle Coordinator of any issues.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe environment in the vehicle.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Familiarity with The Salvation Army's mission and values.
  • Seasonal employment for November and December.
