About The Position

The position is located at the Hospital for Special Care in the Autism Inpatient Unit, scheduled for 24 hours per week on the first shift. The role involves working under the oversight of the Clinical Nurse Manager and daily monitoring by the Behavior Specialist Supervisor. The primary responsibility is to implement therapeutic treatment plans and ensure the safety of assigned patients. The position requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary treatment team to collect data for functional assessments and document patient responses to interventions.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate in a Human Service field with six months to one year of direct childcare work with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Associate's degree in a Human Service field with two years of experience with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Five years of experience with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Experience implementing Applied Behavior Analysis procedures with children and/or adolescents.

• Experience with data collection, reinforcement, and instructional procedures.

Responsibilities

• Implement therapeutic treatment plans and ensure patient safety.
• Collect data for functional assessments and document patient responses.
• Provide care to assigned patients under the direction of the RN.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, intervening in destructive behaviors.
• Supervise assigned patients in daily routines and assist with activities of daily living.
• Identify, report, and resolve potential/actual problems on the unit.
• Complete documentation such as incident reports and seclusion forms.
• Participate in debriefings and hand-off shift reports.
• Engage patients in organized group-based activities.
• Participate in teaching visits and family training as assigned.
