About The Position

The position is located in the Autism Inpatient Unit at the Hospital for Special Care, with a scheduled weekly work of 40 hours on the second shift. The role involves providing exceptional care to patients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, under the oversight of the Clinical Nurse Manager and daily monitoring by the Behavior Specialist Supervisor. The job is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate in a Human Service field with six months to one year of direct childcare work with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Associate's degree in a Human Service field with two years of experience with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Five years of experience with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Preference for individuals with experience implementing Applied Behavior Analysis procedures.

Responsibilities

• Implement the therapeutic treatment plan ensuring the safety of assigned patients.
• Collect data for functional assessment and document patient responses to interventions.
• Provide care to assigned patients under the direction of the RN.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, intervening in destructive behaviors and providing timely therapeutic interventions.
• Supervise assigned patients in daily routines and assist with activities of daily living.
• Identify, report, and resolve potential/actual problems on the unit.
• Complete documentation such as incident reports and seclusion and restraint forms.
• Participate in debriefings and hand-off shift reports.
• Engage patients in organized group-based activities and modify tasks to meet developmental needs.
• Participate in teaching visits/family and parent training as assigned.
• Handle crisis situations safely and effectively, utilizing de-escalation techniques.
