Strategies to Empower People is looking to hire full-time Behavioral Support Staff to provide direct in-home and community support for adults with Developmental Disabilities who require a high level of BEHAVIORAL AND/OR MEDICAL SUPPORTS ! THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE USE OF AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL), IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS POSITION YOU MUST BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE IN ASL! The Behavioral Support Staff works one-on-one with an adult who has an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability who also needs experienced staff to support with consistent, high behavioral challenges or medical challenges. The clients we support live in their own homes - no group homes, and no locked facilities! The clients that this position supports are deaf or hard of hearing, so deaf and ASL-friendly applicants are welcome! The Behavioral Support Staff's job is to provide direction and hands-on support with any and all needs our clients have, but the Behavioral Support Staff is not a butler! The goal is for our clients to engage in all parts of their lives, and the Behavioral Support Staff is responsible for making sure that even though our clients may need someone to help them with eating, cleaning, bathing, or toileting, that they themselves are still taking part in those activities! Behavioral Support Staff assist with assessment and behavioral intervention for the person they work with.
