The Behavioral Support Specialist (BSS) for Early Intervention at Elwyn plays a crucial role in ensuring that students on their caseload demonstrate academic progress and achieve their full potential. This position involves overseeing and implementing curriculum objectives, programs, and behavior intervention plans and strategies through intensive behavior support and Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) programming. The BSS is responsible for addressing behavioral goals as outlined in each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This role is centered in a preschool environment and requires both in-person and virtual instruction to effectively support students' needs. The BSS will develop individual ABA programs tailored to the assigned children and oversee the implementation of behavioral procedures that allow classroom teachers to focus on academic instruction. They will also recommend necessary changes to behavioral goals based on reinforcement assessments and assist teachers in maintaining standards of student behavior to ensure positive classroom management. In addition to direct support for students, the BSS serves as a liaison for families, offering guidance and resources to support students' physical and emotional well-being. They will review evaluation reports and IEPs to assist in developing appropriate service recommendations and will maintain documentation and records to chronicle services delivered and monitor student progress. The BSS will also contribute to staff training related to ABA techniques and perform other duties as assigned by the Preschool Center Director or Clinical Director.
