The Behavioral Specialist provides support services for the clinical team, providing resident supervision and ensuring resident participation while in the facility. Behavioral Health Aides work within the guidelines of IHC policies and procedures, and must adhere to all laws governing the facility. Essential Job Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Escort residents to/from various places. Assist with activities and engage with residents. Assist nurses, nursing assistants, and care team. Document relevant information regarding the residents’ activities. Therapeutic assistance as needed. Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the Director of Nursing or Administrator. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning. Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
