About The Position

The Behavioral Response Safety Coordinator (BSC) is a frontline member of the Behavioral Emergency Response Team (BERT). This role is responsible for promoting a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff during behavioral health crises. The BSC provides rapid, skilled support in de-escalation, crisis intervention, and safe patient handling, working collaboratively with nursing, physicians, security, and behavioral health specialists.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited program in human services, which includes but is not limited to: Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Pastoral Counseling, Education or Family therapy (Required) or Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree (Required)
  • 3 years experience in behavioral health patient care, with demonstrated skill in managing behavioral health crises (Required)
  • 1 year experience in leadership, supervisory, or team lead role (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis prevention training programs (Handle with Care, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), MANDT, MOAB, or other crisis de-escalation models (Required)
  • General Experience in behavioral healthcare setting with exposure to trauma informed care principles (Required)
  • Previous experience with and participation in response teams (code response, rapid response, behavioral emergency response team) (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience conducting staff training or mentoring in crisis response and safety techniques (Preferred)
  • Previous experience with performance improvement projects related to patient safety and workplace violence (Preferred)
  • Previous experience or training in Lean Six Sigma, quality improvement methods, or safety event analysis (Preferred)
