Behavioral Medicine Faculty Key Responsibilities: Curriculum Development & Teaching Design, implement, and evaluate an integrated behavioral health curriculum for family medicine residents. Deliver didactic lectures and longitudinal educational experiences tailored to community needs. Develop resident evaluation tools and wellness curriculum aligned with ACGME guidelines. Clinical Services Provide psychotherapy and behavioral health services to patients within residency clinical sites. Maintain a private patient panel for mental health care, supporting access to behavioral health in the community. Program Support & Administration Contribute to residency program planning, development, and accreditation efforts. Participate in resident and faculty recruitment activities. Engage in program administration, evaluation, mentoring, precepting, and scholarly activities. Scholarly & Professional Development Complete scholarly activities consistent with an academic faculty role. Support and encourage resident and faculty participation in research and scholarly work. Assist in the development and maintenance of program policies and procedures. Meritus Health is committed to advancing medical education as it transitions into a leading academic institution. This includes the development of the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine, which welcomed its first class in July 2025, and the launch of a new psychiatry residency that same year. Future GME expansion plans include general surgery, internal medicine, sports medicine fellowship, and more. The Behavioral Medicine faculty will have resources and support to help the program director advance the educational mission of the system.

  • Master’s degree or higher in social work, counseling, psychology, marriage & family therapy, or related field
  • Independent licensure eligibility in Maryland (i.e. LCSW-C, LCPC, LMFT)
  • Training in evidence-based behavioral health interventions
  • Strong communication and teaching skills
  • Demonstrated excellence and passion for clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity that advance clinical medicine and institutional service
  • Current or past experience teaching medical students and/or residents preferred
  • Current or past experience creating education curricula preferred
