About The Position

The position involves working in conjunction with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to ensure that the mental health and behavioral needs of individuals are met. The role includes conducting functional behavioral assessments and developing behavior support plans. Responsibilities also encompass providing individual and group counseling, training staff, and presenting psychotropic medications and restrictive behavior support plans to the Human Rights Committee.

Requirements

  • LEVEL 1 BIS: Master’s degree in a clinical and/or treatment field of psychology and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support development, and at least five (5) years experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • LEVEL 2 BIS: Master’s degree in clinical or community psychology, or related treatment degrees, certifications, or licensure approved by OPWDD. At least one (1), but less than five (5) years experience providing behavioral services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Able to travel to and access multiple locations throughout the metropolitan area.
  • Able to work flexible hours and/or days, including possible overnight and weekend hours on rare occasions.
  • Provides on-call behavioral service coverage via cell phone.
  • Adheres to agency policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Identify behaviors and/or mental health issues of individuals that require care.
  • Oversee the collection of baseline data for developing behavior support and monitoring plans.
  • Complete functional behavioral assessments prior to developing behavior support plans.
  • Write and revise behavior support plans and monitoring plans at least annually.
  • Establish proactive and reactive data collection methods and review data monthly.
  • Train multi-level staff in implementing behavior support and monitoring plans.
  • Debrief with staff after major behavior events.
  • Spend time in programs with individuals based on program needs.
  • Make referrals for psychiatric care, psychological evaluations, and counseling services.
  • Act as a liaison between mental health services and IDT members, clinics, and families.
  • Obtain informed consents for psychotropic medications and restrictive behavior support plans.
  • Present psychotropic medications and restrictive behavior plans to the Human Rights Committee.
  • Prepare and maintain required written reports and documentation.
  • Participate in various meetings including Life Plan and departmental meetings.
  • Conduct interviews during investigations and provide written reports.
  • Provide supportive counseling and document each session.
  • Maintain current certification in SCIP or PROMOTE and become a certified trainer.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
