About The Position

The Behavioral Health Technician position at Sovah Health - Martinsville is a full-time role focused on ensuring a safe environment for psychiatric patients in a locked inpatient unit setting during night shifts. The technician will be responsible for monitoring patients, reporting incidents, and collaborating with nursing staff to maintain patient safety and well-being.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• AHA BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform continual surveillance of behavioral health unit monitors and operate the patient-monitoring system.
• Monitor dining/day rooms and hallways on Behavioral Health when occupied by patients to assure patient safety.
• Monitor patients for suspicious behavior indicating the possibility of self-harm.
• Report incidents and utilize nursing staff for concerns, discussing recent issues and pertinent patient details with covering/on-coming behavioral health monitor technician.
• Recognize patient behaviors in the dining/day room and hallway environment that may result in an unsafe situation.
