About The Position

DYS is seeking a Behavioral Healthcare Provider 1 to oversee facility behavioral healthcare functions. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a solid background and a passion to habilitate youth. Specifically, the Behavioral Healthcare Provider 1 will: Within scope of license, provides behavioral health services for assigned caseload of youth at Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility (e.g., assessments; treatment planning; individual, group, and/or family interventions/session; crisis intervention); provides liaison services (e.g., with family, regional office, juvenile parole officers, release authority, school, courts, and other community support services). Completes discharges and aftercare planning; provides facility orientation (e.g., treatment and behavioral health expectations; grievance system; how to access mental health, legal, and medical services); provides orientation to parents/guardians of newly committed youth. Represents Behavioral Healthcare Services on Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDT); coordinates presence/participation of all team members (e.g., parents/guardians, parole officers, appropriate facility staff); gathers necessary documentation and reports; participates in case staffing; documents clinical summary of meeting; establishes and maintains working relationship with other facilities, agencies, and support services. Contacts parent/guardian in emergencies, crises, transfers, etc.; meets with and answers questions for visitors regarding programming. Accesses, develops, maintains, and synthesizes written and/or electronic documentation in compliance with DYS policies to satisfy requirements of federal, state, and local agencies; progress notes; facility and community reports pertaining to youth’s case. Attends departmental and inter-departmental meeting as assigned; at-tends court hearings as needed; maintains professional growth through participation in seminars, conferences, and workshops; performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II (LCDC II) by Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board.
  • Or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Or Licensed Social Worker (LSW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT) by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Or Licensed Registered Nurse with practice specialty certificate in Mental Health or Psychiatric Nursing as issued by Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Or Licensed Registered Nurse by Ohio Board of Nursing plus completion of Masters degree in Psychology or other mental health related field.
  • Or Licensed Registered Nurse by Ohio Board of Nursing plus completion of Masters degree in Nursing with a Mental Health of Psychiatric Nursing concentrate.
