About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is currently recruiting for a Behavioral Health Unit Supervisor to join their team! FACILITY: Capitol Region Mental Health Center (CRMHC) LOCATION: 500 Vine Street, Hartford, CT UNIT: Inpatient Treatment Unit (ITU) SCHEDULE: Full-Time, 40 Hours per Week, First Shift, 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday POSITION NUMBER: 26841

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of professional health care experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been at a lead or supervisory level responsible for coordinating the work of a unit or team of professionals in a behavioral health setting.
  • Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a current license as a Clinical Social Worker, Professional Counselor, Marital and Family Therapist, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut or hold a Multistate or Compact Registered Nurse license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supervising members of a multidisciplinary team on an inpatient Behavioral Health Unit
  • Experience working in an inpatient or hospital setting treating patients with co-occurring mental health substance use disorders.
  • Experience with evidenced based addictions treatments
  • Experience coordinating clinical services in a multi-shift clinical unit
  • Experience providing trauma informed care for individuals who have encountered trauma and/or abuse
  • Possess a Registered Nurse (RN) license

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and clinical oversight, including direct supervision of professional and paraprofessional staff on multiple shifts
  • Conduct annual performance evaluation
  • Identify educational gaps for all staff to assist in the development of annual staff competencies
  • Provide the needed oversight to ensure the unit workflow, and unit priorities are identified and completed
  • Ensure unit policies and practice standards are followed
  • Ensure a safe environment and competent care for clients
  • Be a member of the multidisciplinary team and ensure cross-shift communication between all disciplines on all shifts to ensure safe client care and continuity of care
  • Monitor and evaluate the efficacy and timeliness of client care, identify barriers, collaborate with the team to develop alternative strategies, and identify solutions to improving client care and outcomes
  • Perform direct care duties as needed to ensure continuity of care
