About The Position

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a ?Service Delivery Area? comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services.The Behavioral Health Transporter will be primarily responsible for meeting the transportation needs for members and program participants in the designated program area. Transportation is based on need and scheduled routes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Able to obtain First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course certification within three months of hire date.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid driver?s license and be insurable.
  • Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.
  • Able and willing to travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial driver?s license (CDL)
  • First Aid, CPR, and Defensive Driving certified.
  • One year experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638? Indian Self-Determination Act.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing transportation for program participants, in a cheerful, pleasant, and professional manner, including transporting them to and from appointments or obligations in, but not limited to, the areas of Lincoln, Omaha, Norfolk, Sioux City, Niobrara.
  • Responsible for answering calls, scheduling, maintaining records, clerical support.
  • Assist clients in getting into and out of vehicles.
  • Clean and maintain vehicles according to policy or direction of Director of Integrated Care.
  • Maintain the rights, dignity, and privacy of riders.
  • Maintain or attain CPR certification, defensive driving training, and First Aid emergency care.
  • Maintain appropriate records.
  • Be well-versed in and abide transportation laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Patient confidentiality and Privacy Act/CFR42 and HIPAA must be enforced.
  • Will follow the policies and procedures of Pona Health Services and the Behavioral Health Department
