About The Position

The Behavioral Health Technician plays a crucial role in supporting clients in a sober living environment. This position involves supervising clients, ensuring their safety, and maintaining a clean and supportive atmosphere. The technician is responsible for documenting client behaviors, managing emergency situations, and adhering to confidentiality and ethical standards. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to de-escalate tense situations while providing compassionate care.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to supervise others in a supportive manner.
  • At least 2 years of sobriety from mood/mind-altering substances if self-reporting recovery status.
  • Prior experience in a residential setting or sober house environment is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge and practice of 12 Step Recovery.
  • Ability to perform basic cleaning and home maintenance duties.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs., navigate stairs, and use basic home maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA/Confidentiality Training.
  • Valid driver's license or reliable means of transportation.

  • Experience in addiction medicine or behavioral health settings.

Responsibilities

  • Write Shift Reports in the EMR system regarding routine functions and any unusual client behaviors.
  • Verbally de-escalate clients experiencing drug withdrawal and maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Prioritize tasks in a multifunctional setting.
  • Ensure client rooms are stocked with hygiene supplies and report shortages to the Facility Director.
  • Check the facility for client safety and infection control issues, reporting any concerns to medical or maintenance staff.
  • Supervise and oversee clients, being alert to their whereabouts.
  • Maintain confidentiality and be sensitive to clients' needs.
  • Document thoroughly in the Logbook before ending shifts.
  • Assess scenes accurately during client crises and contact executive management as needed.
  • Handle on-site random urine screen protocols.
  • Be familiar with and ready to implement the Disaster Plan when necessary.
  • Perform rounds of the facility and bed checks on clients without waking them, reporting any irregularities promptly.
  • Drive a 15-passenger van as needed, ensuring a valid driver's license and insurance coverage.
  • Follow the agency's vision, mission, and values, ensuring the integrity of the sober living program.
