The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) acts as a representative of treatment staff and observes all patient activity, maintains a visible presence on the clients at the treatment center, community housing, and at outside activities. The BHT will also circulate throughout the treatment center and community housing facility, and alert to fire and safety hazards. The BHT is responsible for driving the company vehicle to ensure clients arrive safely and on time each day for scheduled actives. This role involves developing daily and weekly structures for clients, overseeing clients and peer leaders, transporting clients to and from appointments and meetings, utilizing the company van for transportation, instructing new admissions on company rules and regulations, orienting new clients to the facility, following up on client insurance claims when necessary, evaluating program quality on an ongoing basis, facilitating communication with ancillary services, attending clinical and administrative meetings for inter-departmental information sharing, building positive relationships with staff and physicians, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment, following Infection Control Guidelines, reporting personal symptoms of suspected illness or contagious diseases to the Infection Control Designee, completing and forwarding Incident Reports and other safety/risk issues to the COO, providing a safe, therapeutic environment for staff and clients, providing and observing self-administration medication to clients, conducting Waived Tests, providing a daily report on hourly rounds made during the shift to the Supervisor, facilitating client rules and responsibilities and reporting noncompliance to the Supervisor, being sensitive to cultural issues of patients, reporting suicidality/homicide of patients, demonstrating competency and understanding of addiction, and reporting and responding to issues of trauma and dual-diagnosis in patients.
