About The Position

Behavioral Health Technician - Psychiatric Individualized Supportive Living (PISL) Location: Cape Girardeau, MO PRN Shift Full Time: Saturday - Tuesday 2:00pm - 12:00am Pay Range : $17.38 - $19.78/hour Community Counseling Center offer's shift differentials for staff who work an Evening or Overnight shift at its residential facilities. Evening Shift: + $0.50/hour per hour worked on Evenings. Overnight Shift: +$1.00/hour per hour worked on Overnights PRN Typically 1 shift per week , any shift depending on need and your availability Minimum Required Qualifications : High School Diploma/GED/HSE required. Preference will be given to those with at least two years' experience in Healthcare or Mental Health field or with an undergraduate degree. Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL Residents), and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must also meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation. Note: The Class E is just a written required computer test. No Driving Test has to be taken for the Class E. Then you would go to the DMV after the test is taken (passed) and transfer the license over to that Class E. https://dor.mo.gov/pdf/dlguide.pdf#page=11 Click HERE to learn more about the MO Class E License The Psychiatric Individualized Supportive Living (PISL) Program PISL is four bedroom living arrangement for transitional adults between the ages of 18 years up to the age of 26 with a diagnosed severe and persistent mental health illness. The residents must demonstrate willingness, desire and need to learn and/or improve independent living skills. Individuals may have a variety of presenting problems including a history of mental illness, severe functional disability, (i.e. inability to work, live independently, or maintain adequate social support) and possibly substance use/dependency issues. Your Job as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) As a BHT you are responsible for the oversight of the clients' safety and mental well-being as well as the physical plant facilities. This includes assisting clients with skill building, participating in groups and social activities, and intervening in crisis situations when needed. To be successful in this role, you would need to have a high level of communication skills, model behavior to clients, and promote client-centered treatment. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on a trauma informed approach.
  • Promote and educate clients regarding activities of daily living including household management (i.e., attending to bedroom, laundry, etc.) and self-care management (i.e., hygiene, grooming, medication, etc.) tasks and responsibilities.
  • Teach functional living skills such as anger management techniques, impulse control, social/communication skills, relaxation skills, emotional coping skills, etc. based on the client's individual treatment plan.
  • Collaborate closely with the treatment team to appropriately coordinate client care services.
  • Complete and chart client observations in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
  • Conduct ongoing checks; including personal belongings, room checks, and grounds checks based on agency policy and procedure.
  • Ensure protective oversight of clients, monitor the condition of clients, and follow agency policy and procedure regarding medical emergencies or elopement.
  • Transport clients to and from appointments as needed and appropriate.
  • Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations when needed.
  • Distribute medications and document such based on agency policy and procedure.
  • Immediately report medication errors based on agency protocol.
  • Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
