About The Position

The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting the mental health and well-being of patients within an inpatient care setting. This position involves direct patient care, assisting with clinical assessments, and implementing individualized treatment plans under the supervision of licensed clinicians. The technician is responsible for monitoring patient behavior, managing crisis situations effectively, and ensuring a safe therapeutic environment. Accurate clinical documentation and maintaining up-to-date discharge plans are essential to facilitate continuity of care and support multidisciplinary team communication. Ultimately, this role contributes to the stabilization and recovery of patients with serious emotional disturbances (SED) by providing compassionate, evidence-based care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience in clinical documentation and patient care within a mental health or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of crisis management and intervention techniques.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Additional training or certification in trauma-informed care or de-escalation strategies.
  • Experience in discharge planning and coordination of care transitions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support to patients with mental health needs in an inpatient setting.
  • Assist clinicians with conducting clinical assessments and monitoring patient progress.
  • Implement crisis intervention techniques to manage and de-escalate behavioral emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including progress notes and discharge plans.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and update individualized treatment and discharge plans.
  • Ensure patient safety by observing and reporting changes in behavior or condition promptly.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and treatment strategies.
