About The Position

Position Summary: The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a crucial role in providing support and assistance to both clients and staff. The primary responsibilities of a BHT are to help facilitate the daily facility and client schedule, monitor clients presence through rounds, assist in the initial intake process, work collaboratively with the treatment team, and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. Core Duties and Responsibilities: Client Care: Provide supervision and support to clients at the facility. Offer clients guidance about recovery using the 12-step model, Refuge Recovery, or other established models when appropriate. Encourage clients to participate in treatment plans and attend scheduled therapy and educational sessions. Assist in client intake and orientation processes, ensuring they are comfortable and well-informed about the treatment program. Help facilitate the daily client schedule. Conduct random urinalysis drug testing as outlined procedurally. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere strictly to confidentiality requirements. Maintain clear, professional and appropriate boundaries with clients at all times, as outlined in the Employee-Client Relationship policy. Comply with all HCANA policies and procedures. Adhere to established standards of hygiene and universal infection control procedures in handling all samples and supplies. Support daily operations tasks as needed. Monitoring and Observation: Monitor client’s presence through daily rounds. Observe and document client behaviors, symptoms, and progress as directed by the treatment team. Monitor all drug tests by observing samples being provided via same sex staff to client interaction. Contact the Facility Director or BHT Supervisor immediately should a conflict arise regarding the UA process. Safety and Crisis Management: Maintain a safe and secure environment by enforcing facility rules and responding to emergencies or crises as needed. Act as a first responder in the event of any potential client safety concerns, following facility protocols. Participate in all required training, as outlined by facility protocol, Joint Commission standards and other local, state, and federal regulations. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, observations, and incidents in electronic health records. Collaborate with the treatment team to report any unusual client behavior or suspicious activity to the Facility Director, BHT Supervisor, and Clinical or Medical staff. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the treatment team, including counselors, medical and support staff, to ensure comprehensive care for clients. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall efficiency of the facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Complete and pass pre-employment requirements, such as a background check and drug test, as outlined by HCANA policies.
  • Understanding of the 12-steps, Refuge Recovery as well as relevant recovery literature and principles of any other established support models.
  • Ability to set priorities, maintain accurate medical records on each client in accordance with the treatment plan and facility policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with clients and co-workers effectively and efficiently.
