About The Position

Provides supportive care to the Emergency Department patients under the direct supervision of the Registered nurse assigned to your area or physician. Assists Registered Nurse and physicians with assessments, examinations and treatment. Supervise patients in the Emergency Department conscientiously with emphasis on patient safety and well-being. Assists in assuring daily program activities: transports patients, admissions and discharges, and supervises all recreational activities. Use de-escalation techniques to resolve and address patients with behavior problems or in crisis. Interact appropriately with patients, showing them respect while maintaining professional boundaries. Communicates effectively with other staff members, demonstrating the ability to work as a team member and contribute positively to the morale of staff and to promote quality patient care. Assists with Safely transporting patients on campus and during transfers. Tracking patient whereabouts and behaviors while redirecting as necessary. Help with coverage of vacations, sick time, etc. Conducts search of all client bags when being admitted to the facility. Confiscates and secures any contraband found, and notifies the appropriate Program Director or supervisor on duty in their absence. Randomly inspects all rooms, common areas, and hallways every 15 minutes. Continuous visibility and rounding throughout assigned areas to promote positive perception of safety for all patients, visitors and staff Provide assistance in “Code Strong” to de-escalate situations and assist with restraining patient if needed.

Requirements

  • Physical Requirements: Exert up to 100 lbs. force occasionally, and/or 50 lbs. frequently, and/or 20 pounds constantly.
  • Communicate in English and Spanish fluently.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Education: High School or equivalent.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention training within first 3 months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • EMT, Paramedic and/or Medical Assistant license, preferred.
  • Graduation from a foreign medical and/or Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Up to 3 years of ER Technician experience preferred.
