About The Position

Hidden Creek Recovery & Retreat (HCRR) provides comprehensive residential mental health treatment for adolescents ages 11–17. Our program supports youth experiencing a wide range of behavioral health challenges, including self-harm, aggression, suicidal ideation, substance use, trauma, mood disorders, depression, and anxiety. We are seeking Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) who are compassionate, alert, and capable of maintaining a safe and structured therapeutic environment for clients who may be actively symptomatic. This role is ideal for individuals interested in building a career in mental health and who enjoy working with adolescents in a residential treatment setting. The Behavioral Health Technician is a vital member of the Hidden Creek Recovery & Retreat System of Care. Under the supervision of the Director of Housing and Transportation, the BHT is responsible for ensuring client safety, monitoring behavior, supporting daily programming, and maintaining a structured, therapeutic milieu.

Requirements

  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during crisis situations
  • Strong problem-solving, stress management, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders and their physical, emotional, and psychological impact
  • Ability to recognize medical emergencies and respond appropriately
  • Familiarity with emergency procedures, overdose response, First Aid, and CPR
  • Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and evolving program needs
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • CPR Certification preferred
  • Must pass a Level 2 Background Check

Nice To Haves

  • 0–1 year experience working with adolescents in a behavioral health, psychiatric, chemical dependency, residential, PHP, or outpatient setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous supervision and a safe, therapeutic environment for adolescent clients
  • Maintain an active, positive presence and model appropriate behavior
  • Monitor, observe, and document client behavior and attendance
  • Count and track all clients with proper documentation
  • Supervise self-administered medications as directed
  • Assist with implementation of daily and weekly residential structure
  • Complete incident reports and immediately notify leadership of risk or safety concerns
  • Report medical emergencies, elopements, or ACA incidents immediately
  • Conduct end-of-shift reporting via email to the Director
  • Orient new admissions to the facility and complete housing intake documentation
  • Search new client belongings to ensure no contraband enters the facility
  • Conduct random residential searches for contraband
  • Monitor curfews and ensure adherence to program rules
  • Transport clients to appointments, groups, activities, and airports using company vehicles
  • Attend all staff meetings and mandatory in-services
  • Follow infection control and safety guidelines at all times
  • Report any illness or symptoms of contagious disease to leadership
